The Town of Stony Plain has a temporary full-time position available for a Corporate Communications Assistant. Reporting to the Corporate Communications Officer, the Assistant will be responsible for providing support to the Corporate Communications team by writing and editing promotional pieces, creating and executing effective communications plans, managing the Town’s social media platforms, and planning and attending small public engagement events.
The ideal candidate for this position will hold a post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations along with a minimum of two (2) years’ related experience, preferably in a municipal setting. Your passion for this field combined with your demonstrated experience as a confident and clear writer is essential when writing News Releases, and executing communications and marketing plans. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, paired with sound knowledge in social media and marketing. Attention to detail is critical in this position, as is the ability to perform multiple complex tasks within a rapidly changing environment.
The salary range for this position is $45,726 - $47,327 per annum. The current work week is based on 35 hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with the exception of some evening and weekend commitments, that will be compensated with time off in lieu. The option to participate in an alternate work schedule may also be available. This is a temporary position with an anticipated end date of December 2018.
